Homeless Vets Outreach posted by on Monday, August 8th, 2011

Many veterans, especially those who served in combat zones, leave the military with significant physical and emotional wounds that make transitioning to civilian life difficult. Unfortunately, one of the largest group of America’s homeless population is veterans. They are too many of our nation’s heroes living on our streets who have special needs and require a helping hand.

The VFW supports homeless veterans in many ways including donations to homeless shelters, support of regional “stand downs,” donating clothing and personal hygiene items, fighting for more government resources to reduce the homeless population and put veterans back to work. Posts and individuals can send donations to the Department’s Homeless Veterans fund in any amount which will be shared with veterans shelters.
